The UNC Center for Community Capital is excited to announce the release of an interactive, multimedia overview of the intersection between housing and opportunity in both the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco and the Gentilly area of New Orleans. Check out the new, user-friendly and compelling StoryMaps here (for San Francisco) and here (for New Orleans).

The StoryMaps feature research and findings from the Center’s recent report, Assessing and Promoting Opportunity in Low- and Moderate-Income Communities. They also include multimedia elements including images, interactive maps, and videos of residents who, in their own words, illustrate how housing plays a central role in access to opportunities. Residents like Monica, featured below, add an important layer of information that adds nuance to our quantitative analysis. Read more about our mixed-methods approach in our recent blog post: “Behind the Numbers: Access to Opportunity in Potrero Terrace and Annex.”
