The Center for Community Capital (CCC) condemns the killing of George Floyd as well as Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many other Black people before them by the hands of law enforcement officers. While the focus is often on the acts of violence by individual law enforcement officers, these tragedies happen repeatedly because of the systemic and structural racism that has deemed some bodies more worthy of life than others. Here at the Center, we work to dismantle these unequal structures through research and engagement with vulnerable populations and communities.

Because of our long history working with vulnerable and under-resourced communities, we understand the outrage and cry for justice. The senseless killing of people of color must end. We stand in solidarity with those who are working to dismantle racism and stand ready to work with faculty, staff, students, community leaders, and community members to engage in and support this work.
